The traditional Diwaniah is one of the most common men guest room settings in gulf area and especially in Saudi Arabia. It has a separate service and entry system apart from the whole house. It takes advantage of every space in a room, starting with decorated colored furniture bordering the room, to floors, ceilings, walls, windows, doors, and lights.

To keep up with the designs demands and development, K E design has modified old elements and added other new ones in its design for such settings. Each element has a special given name. And here are some examples.

AL DIWANIAH

Al Qomria is a wooden carved frame that decorates a window and part of the glass and used instead of curtains. It can be used also, in the same manner, to frame mirrors. Colored glass and different wood designs can give variable beautiful shapes and shades. Kabuli, is the name for the item put at the corners that joint walls with ceiling.

Nasbet Al Shay means a tea table. It’s used to be a reserve for the whole tools for making tea and coffee. Today it is used as a decorating piece and it is situated at the corners besides the entrance.

There is a variety of fabrics and colors used in furnishing the surrounding settee, cushions are often used to enrich the colors and to provide the guests with comfort.

Meanwhile wall light is called Ablik, it can be handled as beautifully with wood and stained colored glass. For ceiling decoration we use Al Najafah; which is the middle ceiling light, it can vary between 50 cm to any size desired, and can be decorated with colored stained glass. Al Najafah is always customized to match the unity of the room design. Al Shamsah is a round wooden decoration for a ceiling spotlight and Najafa.
